來自台東大山大海有着阿美族血統的范逸臣，國小畢業後就到台中唸書，對音樂的熱愛驅使他念五專時參加了吉他社，並且組樂團於暑假期間在台中的pub演唱，畢業以後范逸臣更加堅定自己音樂的路程，在台中的各大pub駐唱了一年多的時間。
在PUB演唱的經驗，讓范逸臣有機會強迫自己接觸不同的音樂類型。在組團的時候，往往是只唱自己喜歡的音樂，可是在PUB裏，各式各樣的人會點出各種風格的歌曲，從國外重金屬搖滾到流行情歌。
2001年出道。2002年演唱電影《我的野蠻女友》台灣版主題曲《I Believe》進入大眾視野，同年發行首張專輯《范逸臣》，憑藉此專輯入圍第14屆台灣金曲獎最佳新人獎。2003年發行專輯《信仰愛情》。2004年發行專輯《愛情程式》。

2008年主演電影《海角七號》，演唱的電影主題曲《國境之南》獲得第45屆金馬獎“最佳原創電影歌曲獎”，同年在小巨蛋舉行個人首場售票演唱會“2008台灣大范逸臣無樂不作演唱會”。2009年和黃冠龍組成酷愛樂團。2012年參演電視劇《愛閃亮》打開了大陸電視劇市場。2014年主演中泰兩國聯手打造的首部極恐懸疑電影《還魂之迷失曼谷》。2016年，主演的中國首部白酒文化電影《國酒》上映。
2009年范逸臣與吉他手黃冠龍（阿龍Alex）合組「酷愛樂團」(「Craze Band」)，范逸臣更創立音樂製作公司｢天堂鳥｣，為酷愛樂團策劃及製作全新概念專輯【初生之犢】，2010年4月16日出版；二人以不自我設限的態度創作音樂，擅長創作陽光或抒情搖滾類的作品，積極推動搖滾樂在華語主流樂壇中的發展，並聯同幾位音樂好友合組「就是帥樂團」作現場（LIVE）演出。

近年顛覆形象開拓搖滾路線並展現創作才華，成功轉型為「搖滾才子」，歌聲呈現澎湃而充滿力量的狂野特質。除了唱功出眾，他會彈吉他、作曲、作詞和擔任音樂製作人，他的創作包括《無樂不作》、《Rock Boys》、《別回答》、《不能沒有你》、《Don't Wanna》、《不說出的溫柔》等。
范逸臣的聲音是國語市場上讓人有愛情幸福感的男聲，擁有高亢、温柔又豐富的聲音特質，音色清澈明亮，可以把看似悲情的歌也唱得很有希望，可以經由他的音樂與歌聲，讓我們繼續相信愛情，對愛情不絕望，有勇氣去追尋自己的幸福，因此出道時曾被冠以「情歌王子」、「幸福系歌手」等稱號。

Van Fan also known as Fan Yi-chen (范逸臣), is a Taiwanese singer and actor with ancestry from the Amis aborigine tribe. He is best known for Cape No. 7(海角7號), the second top-selling film in Taiwanese cinematic history.

Fan made his debut in 2002 with the Chinese version theme song I Believe to the South Korean film My Sassy Girl. Fan started to show up in local TV series since 2005, and rose to fame in the Greater China Area in 2008 after the significant success of Cape No. 7, whose two theme songs “As Happy as Can Be” (無樂不作) and “South of Border” (國境之南) are also sung by him.

In 2009, Van Fan formed the "Craze Band" together with guitarist Huang Guanlong (Alex). Van Fan also established the music production company "Heaven Bird" to plan and produce the brand new concept album "初生之犢" (Rock Boys) for Craze Band, which was published on April 16, 2010.

With an unrestricted approach to music creation, they excelled in composing sunny or sentimental rock works, actively promoting the development of rock music in the Chinese-speaking mainstream music scene.

Van Fan's voice is clear and bright, and his gentle singing conveys a sense of happiness and hope, earning him titles such as "Prince of Love Songs" and "Singer of Happiness." In recent years, he has been exploring the rock genre, and showcasing his talent in songwriting, successfully transforming into a "Rock Genius." His singing style exhibits a wild and powerful quality. Besides his remarkable vocals, he is also skilled in playing the guitar, composing, writing lyrics, and serving as a music producer. Some of his notable creations include “As Happy as Can Be” (無樂不作) , "Rock Boys," "別回答" (Don't Answer), "Can't Be Without You" (不能沒有你), "Don't Wanna," and "The Unspoken Tenderness" (不說出的溫柔).
